Teen Safe

The mission of this project is to provide a safe and engaging environment for the youth population of Lake of the Woods. Current estimation places this population at greater than 600 teenagers. Teen Safe’s plan is geared towards transforming a dilapidated recreational space, currently utilized as an unsafe hangout for teens. This area is used by idle youth and has seen numerous illegal drug activities, alcohol, and tobacco incidents. This population has limited to no adult supervision due to working families or youth raised by single parent households or grandparents. We consider this population to be “at risk youth” and a safe environment is essential for their success moving forward.

The action plan for this area includes building Fresh Park, a trailer-based skate park that has been utilized by major cities across the United States to combat childhood obesity, anti-drug, and gang-related issues. The city of Los Angeles has witnessed an 80% reduction in criminal activity after these parks were deployed to support teen activity. A rendering of the park is below.  Donate now.
